  Magazines, like all traditional media, have faced many challenges in the digital age. It has become increasingly difficult for print publications to keep their readers, but, contrary to newspapers, and despite fierce competition from free online outlets, magazines continue to perform comparatively well. An annual study found that the total number of  magazine readers in the U.S.  remained above 220 million in every year between 2016 and 2020, having previously hovered around the 210 and 215 million mark. Additionally, the  average monthly audience of popular magazines  exceeded 50 million for each of the top five publications appearing in a 2020 ranking, and weekly magazine People enjoyed an average monthly reach of over 90 million that year. In the UK, magazines are projected to account for almost £540.4 million of ad spend in 2022.   Elle Elle is a magazine that has women as their main and possibly most important target audience. Starting with the header, at the left of it, we have the magazine, in smaller font than usual. To the left of it, a button that opens a small tab on the left, that allows you to search for a specific story you want to read about and their main topics that you can choose from, like fashion, beauty, culture, life and love, horoscopes. This is directed to their audience as they are interested in those topics. At the opposite side on the header, Elle has a subscribe button and a sign in button, meaning that you can create an account on their website, and that having access to more personalised content directed at you. The offer a multiple subscription plans, these being a digital only, with unlimited access to the website, a print subscription to get the magazine delivered to you, and an all access that gives you unlimited access to the website and print subscription with a special offer...

  Vogue The website of the magazine vogue has an even more simplistic colour scheme, these being black and white. However, during the month of June, their logo as a rainbow look to it because it is during that month that its celebrated pride month with the logo varying from red starting from the left to black ending on the right side. White for the background and black for the text. The colour scheme does not include those form the stories itself, because if that was used it would be a lot of colours throughout the website. The logo of the magazine is located at the top of the page in the middle and can also be considered the headline of the website. Like GQ, Vouge has to the right of the logo, a link to other countries versions of the website for a different public that speaks other languages or wants to see stories from other countries as each website has some national stories along with the international ones.   GQ Magazine Website of the magazine GQ has a colour scheme of 4 colours, this being white for the background, which is the main colour, black for the text of topics and stories throughout the website, blue for the buttons to order a print of the magazine, this colour is used as it will stand out on the website encouraging sales, the final main colour is a fluorescent yellow line at the top of the page. The colour scheme does not include those form the stories and that is why it only has 4 as the main colours. At the left top of the website main page, they have the logo of the magazine in bold and big font size. The masthead of the front cover is the logo of the magazine, located at the top left corner behind the main image. It follows the colour scheme conventions with about 3 colours, black, white and grey. 2 different fonts used throughout the front cover with sizes varying on the cover lines, not uniform. The main image is a mid-shot of Kanye West centre of the front cover with no supporting images as he is the main focus of the edition. Cover lines placed to the right and left of the front cover and gives the reader the insight of other topics in the magazine and what topics they are going to cover.
